CEC Tapped for Input into US DOE National Education Technology Plan

Representatives of the CEC provided input, including the organization's work in this area, at the special Data-Driven Decision-Making meeting and forum. Other invitees included the Broad and Gates Foundations, Standard & Poors, Just for the Kids, and leading education and instructional technology experts.

CEC staff were invited to the event by US DOE technology chief John Bailey, based on the CEC's groundbreaking work in online data assessment (see SP Snapshot™ below) as the critical strategy for instructional leaders to raise student achievement. SP Snapshot™ was developed in partnership with Etraffic Solutions, an international provider of online learning content and applications for K-12 and adult learning. It is currently in use in schools in more than 40 of Florida's 67 counties.

"It was an excellent forum to provide insight into data assessment, particularly using performance information to drive achievement," said Dr. Liftin. "Through CEC's work, we discovered an urgent need for support of data-driven decision-making at schools. We have developed a state-of-the-art technology tool called SP Snapshot™ to meet and exceed those needs."
